Principals Message

Welcome
As the Acting Principal this year I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My relationship and connection with N’’tsaÜw Chu’ Kedts’edán Kù is long standing and diverse. I was part of the first graduating class of Porter Creek Secondary in 1999. Flash forward elven years where I had the unique opportunity to join the staff of PCSS and work with many of the fabulous educators who inspired me to choose this field. Since this time I have held a variety of roles at PCSS, most recently as the Grade 8 & 9 Vice Principal. I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to working with our students, staff, families and community until April when Mr. Giangrande returns.

It has been a fine first week here at Porter Creek Secondary, the weather, the smiles and the enthusiasm from students and staff to be back in the building has been infectious! On that note, while the Chief Medical Officer of Health no longer requires masking in the school, it is recommended that students and staff continue to adhere to the Safe 6 principals and utilize the updated Traffic Light resource to gauge whether or not to attend school.

With the changing colours of the leaves one begins to think about harvest. Harvest will be the first theme explored in our new Land Based Leadership 8 programming this fall. Ms. Kathleen McDade is currently working with our Grade 8 teachers to integrate land based programming into all of our core grade 8 academic courses. Classes will be out on the land making hands-on meaningful connections to the curriculum. More information will be sent home regarding this programming in the coming weeks.
Our Counsellors have been busy ensuring that all our students are well programmed for. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to the school.
We look forward to seeing you at our Open House on October 5th, 2022.

Däkʼànųtà jè,
Take Care of Yourself,
Nicole Cross
